Asus ZenBook UX305 Review

Asus ZenBook UX305

The Asus ZenBook UX305 is the latest in the line of ultrabooks by various companies, and one of the first to be released in 2015. This ultrabook was announced early September 2014, and was officially released in early 2015 and has been making waves in the little it has been in the market. It has everything an ultrabook should absolutely have – sleekness, power and easy portability. Although there are a few shortcomings, this ultrabook really delivers for its price and is possibly the best value for money among ultrabooks till date.

Features to look out for

The Asus ZenBook UX305 is packed with some really good features in its barely over half an inch thick all-aluminum body. It has a really good battery life that supports a well lit display and a powerful processor. Since it is made of aluminum, it is extremely lightweight, making it easy to carry around without having to struggle with the weight.

Some notable features and specs that thus new ultrabook has to offer:

  • 13.3 inch QHD+ display
  • 0.80GHz Intel Core M-5Y10a Processor
  • 4 and 8GB variants in memory space with SSD storage
  • Built-in HD webcam and dual microphones
  • Intel HD 5300 Graphics
  • Ports include 1 for headphones and microphone, 1 for SD card, 1 for micro HDMI and multiple USB ports
  • Weighs in at 2.6 pounds, or 1.2 kilos
  • 4-cell battery with a backup of up to 9 hours

That is a lot to be packed into a body that measures just over half an inch at its thickest. The finish of the aluminum is matte, giving it a very classy look. The edges are curved and smooth, making the device look even sleeker and beautifully fluid. Since there is no fan built into this ultrabook, its surfaces are smooth even on the bottom without any protrusions or bulk anywhere eon its body. The only thing it lacks is a good backlit keypad, a small addition that would have made life simpler for users. The touchpad is extremely responsive to all the various commands and never gets confused with multi-finger gestures or the right/left clicks.

The amazing

  • Very sleek and lightweight.
  • All aluminum body makes it sturdy.
  • Very quiet cooling.
  • Amazing battery life.
  • Good value for money.

The not-so-great

  • Bo backlight for the keyboard.
  • Speakers not very great.
  • Image quality in webcam not very good.

All in all, the Asus ZenBook UX305 seems to be a great ultrabook at an attractive price with some amazing features and performance specs. It seems to be a good investment right now if you are looking for an ultrabook that is portable and powerful, managing to look great at the same time.
