Slimmer, Lighter: Acer Aspire S5 Ultrabook Laptop Rental

Acer launched its new Ultrabook called the Aspire S5, which is incredibly light and sleek. The first thing you will notice about this laptop is that it hides all its ports behind a door which is motorized using a lever.

The door is located behind the bottom panel and is opened by pressing a button. When opened, the door reveals all the connections and ports including Thunderbolt and HDMI. The door is called MagicFlip I/O Port and earns the creative team bonus points for the original idea.

With no discrete graphics, Aspire S5 manages to work in a Core i7 CPU and is extremely powerful for daily use. The Ultrabook comes at a whopping $1,399 but is a pleasure to use. The memory capacity on this laptop is 4GB up to 1333MHz DDR3 and has a 256GB SSD. It also comes with pre-loaded Windows 7 Home Premium OS.

The 13.3-inch laptop weighs about 2.6 pounds and has a black metal brushed body. The well-designed body gives the laptop a very sophisticated look. The keyboard has island-styled keys that help with typing easily. One disadvantage is that the keyboard isn’t backlit.

Even though many other PC makers have stopped pre-loading their hardware with ad-ware icons and bloatware, Acer continues to do so in the Aspire S5. Pre-loaded icons are found on the desktop for Netflix and eBay and you can also find links for Skype, Nook and other Acer branded services and products.
