Dell Chromebook 11

For those looking for a new laptop but do not want to spend big, the Dell Chromebook 11 (Intel Core i3) might just be the right one for you. With quite a sturdy construction, superior performance and an excellent battery life Dell Chromebook 11 (Intel Core i3) is great machine that is a bit expensive, but packs in a solid performance.

Features and design

The look of the Dell Chromebook 11 (Intel Core i3) is not much different from its predecessor. With a height of eight inches and a width of 12 inches and the same plastic body and charcoal color; there haven’t been many changes to this new Chromebook as far appearance is concerned. But it’s a good thing, as the design looks good. With a weight of about 2.84 pounds it is light enough to carry around in a bag. Its 11-inch display comes with a resolution of 1366 by 768, which some users might find disappointing, but is adequate for the screen size.

One of the strengths of the new Chromebook 11 is its port selection. You get a slot for the SD card, two USB ports (3.0) and one HDMI port. It also comes with good Wi-Fi support. The keyboard is designed with Chrome in mind, but some users might find the size of the tile keyboard a bit small. But the keys have adequate spacing between them for comfortable typing.

With Chromebook 11 (Intel Core i3) you get 16 GB SSD for your documents, apps and other downloads. Along with this you also get cloud storage worth 100 GB from Google, which is free for two years.

The big update on this new Chromebook 11 is its processor. It has an Intel Core (1.7 GHz, i3-4005U) processor. This is a big upgrade from the Intel Celeron in the earlier models. The processor upgrade makes a significant improvement in the way the new Chromebook 11 performs. With Intel Core you can easily open more than 20 tabs at a time along with several streaming services and the system won’t slow down.

The earlier models of Chromebooks don’t perform that well once more than 10 tabs are open at the same time. The processor upgrade also improves the video chat functions of the new Chromebook 11 and the boot time is also better at just 5 seconds.

But it is the longer battery life that is something to rev about here. Even with many applications running and improved performance the battery of the Dell Chromebook 11 (Intel Core i3) lasts for about nine hours. The processor upgrade has certainly translated into a steeper price for the Dell Chromebook 11 (Intel Core i3), which is at $379 approximately. But the improved performance and a robust battery life are the extra benefits.

Trendy Mini PCs

It was long time back that smaller desktop computers became extremely popular. That was the time of media center PCs and home-theater fans would connect the TV to small computers for streaming videos or recording on-air programs. Today, there has been a dramatic transition towards game consoles, smart TVs and Apple’s Mac Mini is perhaps the only small-sized desktop in the picture.

HP’s new range

HP believes that the market can still do with a small desktop powered by Windows, whether on an office desk or the living room. The latest collection of products launched by HP includes the HP Stream notebook (11.6 inches), two tablets - HP Slate6 VoiceTab II, HP Stream 8 and the HP Pavilion Mini Desktop. The HP Stream has an 11.6 inches High Definition display and 32GB flash memory (eMMC). It is equipped with the Intel Celeron processor and comes in a slim design with a Horizon blue color palette.

The HP Stream is a tablet that is powered by Intel and is cloud-connected. It has Office 365 (one year) installed in it along with Microsoft OneDrive storage (1 TB for 1 year) in addition to the Windows 8.1 operating system. The HP Pavilion Mini Desktop stands 2.06 inches tall and weighs just about 630 gram. It is literally palm sized!

Even Intel i3 core processors can be supported by this system. The starting price of the HP Pavilion Mini Desktop is Rs. 26,990 which includes 4GB RAM, Intel Pentium 3558U and an HDD of 500 GB. The HP Stream (without keyboard, monitor mouse) has a starting price of Rs. 19,990. The starting price of the HP Stream 8 Tablet is Rs. 16,990 and that of HP Slate 6 VoiceTab II is Rs. 15,990.

Big storage for HP's new Pavilion Mini desktop

The latest Pavilion Mini by HP is less expensive than the Mac Mini with a smaller footprint. It also has one distinct feature which is missing in the Mac Mini-It can access the internal elements in case additional RAM is required.

The HP Pavilion Mini is decent enough for necessary office tasks and everyday surfing. It has an Intel Pentium processor; however an Intel Core i3 CPU can also be installed for better speed. There is 4GB RAM in both of them and they can offer support to up to 16GB (if added later).

You might find some glitches or slowdowns in the working of the Pavilion, especially when compared to the Mac Mini. But it is still value for money and comes with a mouse and wireless keyboard, not available in Apple. Check out a laptop rental to experience working on the latest range of HP mini PCs.

Asus ROG G751JY-DH72X

There are not many laptops in the market that are optimized for gaming. Even the few that are usually do not live up to expectations. Gamers have to stick to gaming consoles or PCs for heavy gaming. Asus released a few laptops that are especially meant for gaming. One laptop that really stands out in their range of gaming systems is the ROG G751JY-DH72X. This laptop was released in the latter half of 2014 and has been garnering some pretty good reviews since. Let’s take a look at what this gaming laptop has to offer.

Laptop specs that are perfect for gaming

What should a good gaming laptop ideally be like? It needs to have a really good memory and storage, a good keyboard for playing, fans that keep the system cool even with hours of intensive gaming and most importantly, a good wide screen with a great display that lets you really immerse yourself in the world of gaming.

  • A 17.3 inch IPS (In-plane Switching) matte finish display with a high definition screen. It has a 1,080 by 1,920 resolution, and is very bright. It is a perfect display for mobile gaming.
  • 1 TB hard disk drive that gives it a huge storage space, along with a 32 GB memory.
  • The latest 4th generation Core i7 processors from Intel coupled with the best GeForce GTX graphics that NVIDIA has to offer.
  • Dual fans to keep the machine cool even at the peak of gaming and battles.
  • Special buttons to share gaming stats and scores with your friends on social media.
  • Red backlit keyboard is well spaced with a full numeric keypad, all of which is optimized for better gaming comfort.

Do not compare it with prices of gaming consoles, because you will definitely be disappointed. But if you consider its pricing of just under $3000, it is actually very affordable for a gaming laptop considering all the specs it offers. Other good gaming laptops and desktops are easily at least four to five times the price of this Asus.

A few red flags for the ROG G751JY-DH72X

  • Screen not big enough. You will need to invest in a separate wide screen for your gaming.
  • Battery life could be better. It is moderately good, not that great.
  • No touch screen, so you have make do with the keyboard for controls and gaming.

Overall, if you have been looking for a good gaming laptop and have just a few thousand dollars to spare, the Asus ROG G751JY-DH72X is a good deal for the specs and features it offers. It is a perfect laptop for mobile gaming with amazing features and specs that gives you a very satisfying gaming experience.

Digital Storm Vanquish II

Gaming systems are expensive, be it desktops or laptops. It is difficult a find a gaming computer that is good and inexpensive. Digital Storm is a privately owned company in the United States that makes customized laptops and desktops specifically for gaming. The company released their latest custom-designed gaming PC, the Digital Storm Vanquish II, in 2014. It is a desktop computer that is solidly built, performs really well and can be bought for next to nothing. Take a look at the features and specs of this new gaming PC on the market.

What is good in the Digital Storm Vanquish II

Digital Storm is of the few boutique companies that makes and sells custom computers. The Vanquish II, their latest offering, does not disappoint. It looks pretty sharp with its gray body and blue lighting, and surprises you with its build quality.

  • Processor is the latest Intel 3.3GHz quad-core Haswell Refresh Core i5-4590.
  • The latest NVIDIA GTX770 or GTX780 graphics (depending on the level you choose), that gives high resolutions even at 1080p gaming and decently usable frame rates at even 2560x1600.
  • Spacious 8 GB memory, up to 1 TB Seagate storage, and a 120 GB SSD.

It is a very reasonably priced gaming computer that costs anywhere between $700 and $1300, depending on the level you choose to buy. It offers really good build quality for the price. The computer performs amazingly well while gaming even with a single GPU.

The system comes in four pre-tested models according to different gaming levels. Since they are ready pieces that are pre-customized and tested, they are shipped within hours of ordering, a big first for customized PCs. These computers come with an extended 3 year limited warranty period, another first. Most custom PC manufacturers offer just one or two year warranty periods in general.

What keeps the Digital Storm Vanquish II from being the best in its class

Although the Digital Storm Vanquish II is a well-built gaming computer, it does have a few drawbacks for its price point. The limited ports reduce expandability and performance enhancement options and the computer can feel quite bulky.

  • Micro ATX motherboard limits expansion capacity.
  • Limited ports not adequate for performance-enhanced gaming.
  • A bit bulky when it comes to the back plate.

If you are looking at value for money in a customized gaming computer that will be shipped right away and are not looking at updating your system very often, then the Digital Storm Vanquish II is the way to go. It is built really well, takes care of gaming needs beautifully up to 1080p, and is great value for money for the specs and features it has to offer.

Digital Storm Triton

Digital Storm Triton is a nice mid-range gaming machine with cool features and good performance. With an approximate price of $1700 it is a great value buy for gaming fans.

Features and design

Digital Storm Triton weighs about 5.8 pounds and has a height of 0.98 inches and width of 15 inches. Its design is so low-key that it looks more like a business laptop rather than a gaming laptop. But it has beveled corners and side venting which adds an edge to its simple design.

It has a comfortable back-lit keyboard with a numeric keypad. The keys are slightly curved in  which provides better grip to the user. There are two mouse buttons on the touch-pad, which offers functional ease during gaming. The screen measures 15.6 inches and offers a resolution of 1920 by 1080. This resolution is good enough for gaming enabling the makers to keep the price tag affordable.

The Triton comes with great connectivity options. You get an Ethernet port, one USB port (2.0), three USB ports (3.0), two DisplayPorts (mini) one HDMI port and also an SD card reader, Bluetooth (4.0) and other options for wireless connectivity. Storage is decent, but you get the optical drives only as an external option.

Digital Storm Triton has a great processor (Intel Core i7-4710HQ), a good graphics card and an 8 GB RAM, which can be upgraded to 32 GB. All these make Triton a great gaming laptop and offer gamers a perfect choice of machine at a good price. This holds Triton in good stead when compared with other gaming laptops with a higher price tag.

Battery life is good enough at about four and a half hours. This is better than other gaming laptops in the similar price ranges. But more than four hours is a good time for a few sessions of your favorite game and if you keep the power adapter nearby you don’t need to interrupt your gaming session. The sound can be better and you can’t hear much if there is a loud noise nearby. The speakers are not great so you would need headphones. The cooling fans are very noisy and you can hear its whirring when using the laptop.

Digital Storm Triton may not be the best gaming laptop available today. But it is the best gaming laptop thanks to its decent price range. It also comes with a warranty of three years, which is an added bonus when you buy the Digital Storm Triton. Feature-wise it only lacks a few, compared with pricier models. It offers everything you need for a satisfactory to good gaming experience and you can’t get better than this at the same cost.

Acer Aspire E (E5-771G-51T2)

It is good to see that in these times of compact machines you can still find a laptop with a big screen if you so desire. The Aspire E (E5-771G-51T2) is just once such offering from Acer. But it offers a whole more than just its large size. However, people are buying it mostly for its size and let other features be the bonuses that come along with it.

Massive screen and other features

Acer Aspire E is large in size, but it doesn’t weigh much at 6.5 pounds and isn’t very thick. So the large size doesn’t bog the look of the machine down. The screen measures 17 inches and has a resolution of 1,920 by 1,080. This feature makes Aspire E a good buy in the market with similar price tags.

The large size of Aspire E also accommodates a wide keyboard. It has a nice full-sized numeric pad, but the keys are not back-lit. But the key sizes are good so typing is comfortable and the overall keyboard layout is spacious. The touch-pad is also comfortable to use with its width of more than four inches. There is another advantage to its size as it comes with many connectivity options. It offers an HDMI port, four USB ports (both 2.0 and 3.0), a VGA port, and an Ethernet port.

Aspire E comes with an 8 GB memory and worked perfectly when you need to keep open many browser tabs. It also comes with a spacious hard drive (1TB). So you do have download space and speed.

Good performance

Acer Aspire E gives a decent performance with its Intel Core processor (1.7GHz, i5-4210U). It is also a good laptop for gaming. Another good point is its battery life, which gives up to 4.25 hours of steady use. This doesn’t matter much as first it is quite a decent time and gives you enough power to work unplugged for a few hours. And second, owing to its size, you are hardly going to be traveling with it over long distances. So, the power is good enough for home use. The battery however is sealed so it is not easy to replace if you need to after a few years but it’s just a minor issue.

Overall, Aspire E is a good choice if you are looking to buy a laptop as a desktop replacement and with a price tag of $799 approximately it really is a good choice. You can definitely buy laptops with better performance in similar or even lower price ranges. But if you want a laptop with a large screen that also gives good performance for most features, then Aspire E (E5-771G-51T2) is a good machine to buy.

More Sense to Rent Computers Over Buying

It goes without saying that computers have now become an integral part of our daily lives. When the computer was first developed, some of the leading tech companies across the world, struggled to conceive of a time when every individual would have his/her own personal computer.

Today, an individual or a business who does not have access to a computer is severely disadvantaged in a society that is growing to be incredibly tech-savvy. In the corporate realm, access to technology is critical for businesses to stay competitive. However, with the rate at which computer and laptop technology is advancing, integrating technological infrastructure in the form of laptops and computers is no longer a one-time cost.

Businesses are always conducting extensive research into how they can drive down their operational expenditures, while boosting their networks and sales turnovers. As more and more individuals take to the internet, for pleasure, or work, there is a sustained need for programmers to develop applications and software that make transfer of information and communication more seamless and convenient. A business must take advantage of the latest software if it is to stay relevant in highly competitive marketplaces. However, this is easier said than done.

The life span of a computer or a laptop is becoming shorter every year. While in the past, a business could expect its computers to have shelf lives of over five years, now they need to adapt to new technology at least once in three years. In many cases, this represents a significant cost to companies, since they will have to replace their existing equipment with newer equipment that is compatible with the latest software and applications in the market.

More and more companies have come to realize that this practice of replacing tech is not financially sustainable. One of the alternatives that is growing in popularity is that of renting out computers to facilitate business. In this article, we take a look at some of the key benefits that renting computers has over purchasing them.

Amazing flexibility on contract terms

The computer rental option is particularly attractive to companies that are still in their infant stages. During these stages, operational costs need to be monitored and managed extremely carefully. A small company does not have luxury that larger companies have when it comes to experimenting with new marketing, sales or research techniques. They will have to stick to tried and tested techniques in order to stay relevant.

Moreover, many of these companies need to secure loans during their early stages. Renting computers represent the best chance that these companies have to compete within a grander marketplace. This is because this model provides the maximum flexibility possible. Computer rental companies today offer some of the most flexible contracts and plans. As such, a company is able to respond immediately to worsening financial situation by simply terminating a contract. Moreover, they will never be stuck with a fleet of obsolete equipment either.

Tax benefits

Another benefit that many companies do not really take into account when renting computers is that of the tax benefits they receive. It is certainly true that companies can claim a certain number of tax benefits by citing depreciation on their current purchased equipment every year. However, all computer rentals are also completely tax deductible. Many businesses have found that the tax benefits they receive from renting out computers are far greater than those experienced with depreciation.

Maintenance and set-up benefits

One of the most attractive features of the computer rental model relates to the set up of equipment. As a business that is conducting a workshop, trade show or promotional event, it is important not to lose focus of the most important aspects. The last thing that a company will want to worry about is whether their tech equipment is running efficiently.

In many cases, businesses that have purchased equipment will have to hire a full-time technician to maintain and set up equipment for such events. Many companies offer a range of services that extend out from just providing laptops or desktops. These companies will send their own technicians to set up rented equipment for all kinds of events. All a company will have to do is pay a single one-time fee.

Integrating new software

Renting out computers also means that a business will have absolutely no trouble when it comes to employing updated software. Software and applications adapt to hardware and vice versa. As newer generations of computers and laptops come out, programmers develop far more complex software under the knowledge that the latest computers will be compatible with them.

This may prove to be a huge obstacle for companies that have purchased equipment. However, if a computer is looking to integrate the latest applications and software into its technological infrastructure, it can do so seamlessly by choosing the computer rental option.

Different kinds of mice serve different purposes. For instance, ‘Desktop mice’ are designed for standard everyday use. They have the typical left and right buttons and a scroll wheel in the center. Travel mice on the other hand are meant for on-the-road use and are generally quite small, so that they can easily fit inside your laptop bag’s pocket and connect instantly without the use of wires. Similarly there are ‘Gaming mice’ which are a totally different category with customized controls and buttons. Below is a list of some of the best mice that you could choose from for your specific needs:

Corsair Vengeance M65

1. Corsair Vengeance M65

The Corsair Vengeance M65 has a very futuristic design and is extremely comfortable to handle and use with its large scroll wheel placed at the center. The surface of the M65 is made from a soft kind of plastic which does not seem to collect any visible build-up of oil even after extended use.

On the other hand the rest and holding space for your pinky and thumb have a slightly more rugged texture for a good grip. There is a strong metal and rubber tracking wheel which rests on the middle of the right and left click buttons. It has a decent track wheel and has an LED light which glows underneath it. This lends both style and comfort to the overall look of the mouse.

Logitech G602 Wireless Gaming Mouse

2. Logitech G602 Wireless Gaming Mouse

Gamers are known to be choosy about their gaming equipment. And they have a good enough reason because the tiniest detail can destroy or make their game. It could be an inappropriate design, uncomfortable rest and similar other factors.

The Logitech G602 Wireless Gaming mouse has a comfortable design and comes with several thumb buttons which offer customized control. Tech experts believe that the placement of the buttons is perfect for advanced DPI switching. It is also an energy efficient device as the battery life could be stretched to a number of days, not just a few hours.

CM Storm Recon

3. CM Storm Recon

CM Storm Recon fits into the budget of almost all gamers and is a powerful yet comfortable mouse that comes in an ambidextrous design. It has plenty of decent features to boast about and looks good with its matte finish and a solid rubber grip.

Computer rentals are a great way to check out different kinds of mice and get the most suitable one from the different categories.
